New Play Announcement: Victory

We’re proud to welcome Victory by Michael Landes to the Gitelman & Good catalog—a sharp, fast-paced high school drama that reimagines Shakespeare’s Coriolanus in the world of student government, school assemblies, and varsity lacrosse.

This is Coriolanus like you’ve never seen it before:
Set in a contemporary high school, Victory follows C—short for Martin—who becomes a reluctant hero after winning a major game. But instead of enjoying his moment in the spotlight, C finds himself drafted into a student government race he never wanted to run. What begins as a sports story quickly becomes something much deeper: a portrait of anxiety, pressure, and identity in a culture obsessed with performance.

The play features:

  • A flexible, teen-driven cast

  • A high-stakes political atmosphere grounded in real emotional conflict

  • Opportunities for powerful monologue work and dynamic ensemble scenes

  • Smart, stylized dialogue that challenges performers without ever talking down to them

Victory is funny, intense, and devastatingly honest. It’s a perfect choice for high schools looking for a bold, contemporary script that explores mental health, masculinity, leadership, and what it means to be truly seen.

We’re also excited to offer a free Classroom Companion packed with activities, discussion questions, and assessment ideas—available with every script purchase.
